Our Mission

Gateway exists to bring people closer to Jesus by sending love Inward, Godward, and Outward.

Gateway Logo 2016

You will notice in the logo and in the mission statement that our mission is divided in two sections. It flow of our mission statement mimics the greatest commandments of Jesus. He says, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:36-40) The first commandment encompasses all of the mission of God, but the second gives us further clarification of how to love God. The same is true for our mission statement.

The first section simply says that we exist to bring people closer to Jesus. That is our ultimate goal and encompasses all that we do. But the second section clarifies how we fulfill this mission. We divide it in three parts that we describe with the phrase, “I GO.” The Gateway church and its members are seeking to be healthy Inward, Godward, and Outward.

INWARD – encompasses all the ministry of the church that help us grow closer to one another. This includes any fellowship events of the church and discipleship opportunities at church including planned speakers or events that encourage church members to be closer to Jesus.

GODWARD – encompasses our ministry of worship both in and out of the church. It focuses our attention to the goal of our faith to be always looking Godward and to be recognizing and thanking God for his blessings. We want to make sure that we are always focused toward God as a church family.

OUTWARD – encompasses our ministry of outreach/evangelism in the community. This area of our faith encourages us with the reality that we are witnesses of the power of Jesus and want to share that with our friends and family. We believe that we are all called to share the gospel of Jesus.
